Portable Kitchen Cast Aluminum Cooker
|
A perfect reproduction of a 1950s design, this retro charcoal grill would please Elvis, as well as grill and smoke meats, poultry, seafood, and vegetables in the down-home manner he appreciated. It's heavy and sturdy, and rolls around a deck, patio, or lawn on semipneumatic rubber wheels. Made of cast aluminum for maximum heat radiation, the grill cooks foods uniformly, whether they're grilled quickly or slow-cooked and smoked under the hinged lid.
Thick cast aluminum construction will never rust. Four adjustable vents and dampers provide precise temperature control. Aluminum side and bottom trays offer lots of room for holding food, utensils, and condiments. Hinged cooking grid for easy refueling. The grill assembles easily with screws and nuts (included) and measures 35 inches long, 16 1/2 inches wide, and 35 inches high. Because the cooking section detaches from the lightweight aluminum carriage, the entire unit can be quickly disassembled for a tailgating.

Welcome to the Grill Adventures Grills Page
|

When you are looking for a grill. When you look into an internet store you will see pages of grills all
claiming to be the best grill on the market. Buying the grill to cook the perfect BBQ begins with a few simple
steps.
Tip 1 Know your skill level. (Grill Adventures Will help in this area) It takes knowledge and time to learn
how to cook with different types of grills. Gas grills tend to be the easiest grills to use as the heat can
quickly be adjusted. A grill with a pit for charcoal or wood takes a little more skill, and the most challenging
grill is the smoker.
Tip 2 Determine what kind of barbecue you like. There are a variety of tastes for barbecue and often the
taste depends on the type of grill it is cooked on. Any grill other than a gas grill will add flavor and texture
to the food based on the smoke produced. Grilling over apple wood produces a more subtle change than
smoking with apple wood.
Tip 3 Pick a size. Bigger is not always better when it comes to buying a BBQ grill. The size of the grill you
need is determined by how many people you want to feed, how quickly you want to feed them and how
mobile you want the grill to be. You also need to consider the space where you will store a grill and options
for getting the grill from the store to your home.
Step 4 Compare price. The price of BBQ grills varies based on features of the grill, the square inches of
the grilling surface and the material of the grill. Be sure to compare the features on each grill. Once you
know exactly what you want, compare prices from different stores.
Step 5 Buy it. Now that you have found the perfect grill, you just need to choose a method of payment.
Many on-line stores will offer credit or payment options if needed.

The best as well as the
easiest way to light charcoal
briquettes in your Grill
Use a charcoal chimney starter whenever you cook on a charcoal grill. This is an aluminum cylinder with a
wooden handle on the outside and a metal shelf on the inside that separates the cylinder into to sections.
The top section is about 2/3 the length of the cylinder and the bottom section is 1/3 the length of the
cylinder. There are round holes surrounding the bottom 1/3 of the cylinder as well as holes inside on the
shelf that separates the two sections.
To use the charcoal chimney starter, you need 2 to 3 sheets of newspaper. Wad or roll the sheets together
loosely into a long cylinder. I don't wrap it too tight so that air can circulate while it is burning. Curl the the
sheets into a donut shape with a hole in the center. Fit the paper donut into the bottom of the chimney
starter. Try to have a few stray pieces of paper sticking out of the holes. This makes it easier to light. If you
want you can use paraffin cubes either bought in the store or made out of something like a cardboard egg
crate you buy your eggs in.
Fill the top section of the cylinder with charcoal. I prefer to use briquettes in the chimney starter. Lump
charcoal burns too quickly. Place the chimney starter on the floor or charcoal shelf of your bbq grill and light
the newspaper through the holes on the bottom of the charcoal chimney starter. The charcoal lights fairly
fast and should be ready in about 15 minutes. Lump charcoal is a lot faster to start but also burns out
faster, so I don't use it in the chimney starter. The charcoal is ready when you see a coating of white ash
over almost all of the charcoals.
When the coals are ready, carefully poor the coals into the grill and spread them evenly around the grill
bed. Remember to safely place the very hot charcoal chimney starter away from pets and children so they
don't get burned. Also, don't put the hot chimney starter on the grass because it can cause a fire.
A second method to light the charcoals is with paraffin cubes bought at a store or made at home with
cardboard egg crates. Place a few paraffin cubes in the middle of your grill bed or charcoal grate. Then
build a pyramid of charcoal briquettes over and around the paraffin cubes. Light the cube and when all the
briquettes are evenly lit and covered with ash spread them evenly out around the grill bed.
I don't like or recommend starter fluid readily available in stores. These fluids can impart a taste to the
charcoal that I don't like and I prefer a more natural non chemical way to start my fire.
A chimney starter holds about 90 to 100 briquettes. This should cover 2/3 of the area of a standard 22 1/2
inch standard charcoal kettle grill like the commonly used Webber kettle grill. It is important to use the right
amount of briquettes so that you get an even heat. The charcoal briquettes should extend a minimum of 4
inches in every direction beyond whatever food you are cooking. This will allow an even heat and let your
food cook evenly.

Consider purchasing a thermometer to measure the internal temperature of the meat with a thermometer to the air in the grill. The debate over charcoal versus gas is one you don't want to get in the middle of. The one simple thing you need to know is that it is a matter of taste and convenience. To encompass the whole range of grills add to this list electric grills, pellet grills and hardwood cooking as well. Convenience: The best way to think about this problem is to remember that generally the more convenient a grill becomes the less really smoke flavor you are going to get. An electric grill is easiest to use but doesn't have that real fire flavor, while hardwood fires give you the best flavor they are the hardest work.
Authenticity: The authentic smoky, off the fire taste of grilled foods is strongest with the original heat source, wood. As you move to electric you find very little of this flavor left. In fact, many electric grills add virtually nothing to the taste of foods. However the simplicity of flipping a switch and grilling can't be beat.
Taste: On the subject of taste a study was done a while back where people were presented with hamburgers and steak cooked on gas and charcoal. No one could tell the difference between the charcoal or gas when it came to the hamburgers, but they could tell the difference with the steak. The charcoal grilled steak had more distinct smoke flavor.
Space: To decide what kind of grill is right for you, consider where the grill is going to sit. A small patio or covered area is not the place for a large charcoal grill. Electric grills produce no flare-ups and are safer in smaller areas. Gas grills do produce flare-ups and need to be away from any structure to avoid those pesky house fires. Charcoal can be lit with an electric starter and therefore can be used with virtually no open flame.
Grilling: Another thing to consider is how you plan to grill. If you want to be able to come home from work and throw a couple of steaks or chicken breasts on the grill with virtually no hassle then electric or gas might be what you are looking for.
Cost: Finally there is the cost. Gas grills are generally more expensive than electric or charcoal, with charcoal being the cheapest. If you don't want to spend a lot of money then charcoal might be the answer. However, charcoal is the more expensive fuel. You can easily spend $5.00USD a cookout on charcoal, while gas might cost around $.20USD per cookout. Charcoal won't save you money in the long run.

Keep your Investment Clean and Grilling
at its best!
With spring and barbecue season coming up soon, you may be looking ino purchasing a barbeque grill,
think of it as an investment rather not just another item for your outdoor entertainment. For many years to
come you should expect this item to become a large part of your outdoor activities. Proper care and
maintenance will ensure that your barbeque grill will be in top condition for many years to come. While
cleaning and maintenance is specific to the type of barbeque grill your own (gas or charcoal), the majority
of maintenance that should be carried on does not change from grill to grill.
Routine Brushing
The first and very important thing to be done to your grill is a routine brushing. Using a BBQ wire grill brush
you should brush off the cooking surfaces. By routinely brushing your barbeque grill, you will prevent any
type of buildup. Food buildup can become increasingly difficult to remove.
To clean your barbeque grill have the following household items on hand.
* The racks in your grill are especially important as this is where the food touches when it is cooking. You
will have to use the wire brush to remove as much buildup as possible. Once you remove as much as
possible, start washing the grill and racks with steel wool pads. Be sure to completely rinse off all soap and
residue before cooking on these racks again.
Brass wire Grill Brush – To brush the cooking surface.
Steel wool pads, that contains soap - If the racks and grill are really dirty, use the steel wool pads. Be
sure to completely rinse off all soap and residue before cooking on these racks again.
Mild dish soap / Sponge or dishcloth – Clean the rest of the Barbecue Grill other than the grill its self.
Aluminum foil – Use to keep your grill looking nice. Gently rub the aluminum foil on your grill, and you will
notice that it removes grim and buildup.
Dry baking soda - Once you have removed any extra debris and buildup, lightly scrubbing your barbeque
grill with baking soda will give it that extra shine, similar to the day that you brought it home from the store.
Spray cooking oil – Spray cooking oil on the cooking service after the grill is cleaned to prevent rust
Preventing Problems
The majority of problems that arise from barbeque grills comes from lack of cleaning and maintenance. That
means if you notice something does not seem quite right with your barbeque grill, chances are it can be
fixed with just a simple cleaning. Even if you clean it, and still find that it is having problems, at least you
saved yourself the potential embarrassment of taking it to a professional only to find out all it needed was to
be cleaned.
Finally, one method of preventing problems with your barbeque grill is protecting it from the outdoors.
Covers are available for grills in all shapes and sizes, so chances are, you will find one that fits your grill. If
you have a cover for your barbeque grill, then all you will ever need to do is do the regular maintenance
listed above.
Ensure that you have a good Cover for Your Grill
That fresh taste of grilled food dosen't just happen on its own. You have to take good care of your grill, clean it after each
use, with the barbecue cover tucking in the barbecue for the evening, keeping out harsh elements. Putting a cover on your
grill is a smart decision.
The two main purposes of barbecue covers are protection of the grill and safety. Barbecue grills can cost as much as, or
sometimes more, than a regular indoor stove. There's no price on safety.
When shopping for barbecue covers don't skimp on quality. Look for barbecue covers made of sturdy, waterproof material
which fits the size of your grill and is heavy enough to provide protection from heat and cold.
As for protection, grills often have an attractive, super shiny finish in them. Scratches on the enamel finish can be avoided
with a good quality cover. Use the cover whenever the barbecue is not in use. Overhead flying feathered friends may deposit
droppings on your barbecue while you're not looking, an unattractive start when you're getting ready to cook up a big juicy
steak!
Barbecue covers are an important safety measure. Children are especially playful during the summer and curious year
around. They may be enticed by knobs and controls, accidentally turning on the barbecue. This can cause propane leaks
and fire hazards. When not in use, a grill with a cover helps deter these mishaps.
When you live in the north, after summer is over and the barbecue retires to its humble spot behind the house it shouldn't be
left bare. During the off-season, while the barbecue hibernates, waiting for its next assignment, insects tend to nest in this
little abode. After summer, wasps have a habit of nesting inside, providing a shock for the owner when he opens it up next
year. Barbecue covers also prevent insects from crawling into and dying in your grill, so it will be just as clean as the last time
you used it.
Be sure barbecue covers are flame retardant, so in the event that the grill was inadvertently left on, your barbecue cover
might save your life by smothering out the fire. This is no excuse for leaving the propane on. Even with a barbecue cover,
proper safety measures should always be taken.
